Expected Learning Outcomes From A Business Management Game

byAlma Abell

Management, on any level and in any sized company, business or organization, is really a very lonely position. Rarely to managers have the ability to actually talk about how and why they make decisions and compare that to others. Using a business management game for your next training, manager retreat, or professional development day can turn this around.

When managers do get together, especially in today’s highly competitive business market, it can seem that admissions of not really having a strategy or not knowing how to proceed can be seen as a weakness. When you take the managers out of the workplace but still have them working on a realistic type of business management game those issues can be openly discussed without any awkwardness.

The Listening and Learning Outcome

Even for managers that may be struggling with management skills, sitting and playing a game with other managers at the same level or more senior professionals in the company provides an invaluable learning experience.

A business management game provides each manager the opportunity to not only gain business knowledge and acumen, but to also see other managers in action. Unlike in the workplace there is the opportunity to witness the problem solving, financial and industry specific choices that are made and then see what the outcome is without stress sand pressure.

Increased Skill Development

With a business management game that includes all aspects of company management and growth anyone playing the game is going to gain an understanding of overall management. However, the games are also carefully designed to provide challenges or obstacles to just simply growing the business, so additional business problem solving skills are front and center in the game format.

With the general skills and business knowledge required for a top business management game it can be used in any industry, company or business and be highly relevant. Many of the top companies also provide a business with the opportunity to have a custom designed game that includes challenges, decisions and plans that are specific to the industry or business model.

These top business management game scenarios can be used on their own, or combined with the option for a hands-on training strategically planned for after the game. This is a great option and allows your management staff to be guided through the important learning outcomes of playing the game.

Football: Arsenal signs Aubameyang from Dortmund

Friday, February 2, 2018

On Wednesday, English football club Arsenal FC announced signing Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from German club Borussia Dortmund (BVB) on “a long-term contract” which runs until 2021. The deal is worth about £56 million, making Aubameyang the costliest player in the history of the club.

The 28-year-old striker joined Borussia in 2013 from French club Saint-Etienne, and since then, scored 141 goals in 213 matches for BVB. In German Bundesliga, he scored 98 goals, scoring one goal in 116 minutes on average. During his tenure at the Signal Iduna Park, the Gabonese captain won the 2017 DFB-Pokal (German Cup).

Aubameyang scored 31 goals in Bundesliga last season. Aubameyang was named 2016 Bundesliga player of the year. A year earlier, in 2015, he won African Footballer of the Year award. He has 56 international caps with Gabon and has netted 23 goals.

Via their official website, Arsenal announced Aubameyang is to wear jersey number 14, previously worn by Theo Walcott until last month when he moved to Everton FC. The Gabonese, who has already scored 21 goals in 24 games this season, reunites with Armenian midfielder Henrick Mkhitaryan. They were teammates at Dortmund until 2016, when Mkhitaryan moved to Manchester United. Mkhitaryan’s transfer to the London club came in exchange of Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez moving from Arsenal to their rivals Manchester in a swap deal.

Dortmund had signed Belgian footballer Michy Batshuayi from Chelsea on loan before Aubameyang’s deal was agreed upon. With Aubameyang’s arrival, French forward Olivier Giroud moved to Arsenal’s cross-town rivals Chelsea. In summer, Arsenal had signed Alexandre Lacazette for a then-club record fee of around £46.5 million.

Agriculture In A Nutshell

The word agriculture means “taking care of the fields”in other words, what we are used to thinking of as farming. And, in fact, agriculture and farming mean just about the same thing. But usually we would say “agriculture” when we mean the entire work and science of using the earth to produce food and other plants that are valuable to us; and we would use the word “farming” to mean some particular branch of this, for example dairy farming, or chicken farming. You will note that the word “science” was used in the paragraph above. Agriculture is as much of a science as engineering, medicine, or any other scientific fields to which men and women turn for their life’s work. Many different sciences go to make up the whole work of agriculture. Many different sciences have helped in making agriculture the respected and profitable work it is today. This has not always been so. Farming used to be laborious, poorly paid work. A farmer had to work hard in his fields all day long, just to raise enough food for his own family. Usually his wife had to help, and had no time for comfortable living; his children had to help, and had no time to get good educations. Today the young man or woman of a family in the field of agriculture will go to one of the hundreds of agricultural colleges and universities in the United States and will learn to make the family’s farm even better in the future. In this encyclopedia there are separate articles on dairy farming and cattle farming and farm machinery and other branches of agriculture. In this article we will tell about what agriculture used to be, how it has changed, and what it is today. how agriculture has changed There have been farmers as long as there has been history and for tens of thousands of years before that.

Oil for food scandal: UN releases third report

Tuesday, August 9, 2005

The UN-appointed panel investigating the oil for food scandal has released its third report.

The report says that Benon Sevan took nearly US$150,000 in cash bribes. Chef de Cabinet for Kofi Annan, Mark Malloch Brown, said that the UN would lift Sevan’s immunity should an approach come from a law enforcement authority and that the UN had been in ‘active collaboration’ with the Southern District of New York.

At the press conference responding to the report, Malloch Brown also said that there was will “a real need for serious, deep-rooted management reform of our organization, and that does not seem to be yet fully accepted by all member states.”

Benon Sevan, who worked for the UN for nearly 40 years before resigning on Sunday, has denied the accusation. In his resignation letter to Kofi Annan, he wrote: “The charges are false and you, who have known me all these years, should know they are false… I fully understand the pressure you are under…, but sacrificing me for political expediency will never appease our critics or help you or the organisation.”

A former UN procurement officer Alexander Yakovlev has pleaded guilty to accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes from UN contractors.

What Is Your Joy List?

What Is Your Joy List?

by

Bo Sanchez

My traveling companion was an 83-year-old woman.

I just preached in Jakarta and Singaporeand brought my Mom with me. Sure, she had salt and pepper hair. And a few more wrinkles on her face. Sure, she had her metal cane. And walked slower than I did. But Mom followed my crazy schedule. We arrived midnight in Jakarta. Slept a bit. By morning, I gave my seminar while my Jakarta friends toured Mom around the citymalls, the cathedral, etc. In the evening, she watched my Concert. We slept after midnight again like she was a teenager from a late night party. The next day, we woke up early for my morning talk. After that, while I attended more meetings, my friends whisked Mom away to shop. This included a cable car ride at the amusement park! That night, she slept by midnight. Again! The next morning, we flew to Singapore. There, Mom attended my seminars. But in between, she went around Singapore. And would you believe? This 83-year old woman even rode a gigantic Ferris wheel! Now tell me: How many of you know of women her age still riding Ferris wheels? If Youre Alive, Why Not Be Really Alive? Mom is teaching me how to be really alive. Now dont misunderstand me. Mom has her moments of deep sorrow. Mom lost Dad last year. So every now and then, she cries a lot. But shes made a decision that while shes alive, shell live it to the full. While shes alive, shell enjoy life the way she wants to. I believe Mom has a Joy Listthings that she really enjoys doing. I dont know if she ever wrote it down on paper, but Im absolutely sure she has it written down in her heart. Here is her Joy List: Go to Mass everyday. Pray daily before the Blessed Sacrament. Have happy meals with her children and grandchildren, especially with her favorite son. (Ahem.) Watch EWTN on TV everydayafter my TV shows of course. Chat with her friends on the phone. Most of her old friends are now in Heaven. So she had to make new friendstwenty and thirty years younger than her. Listen to my talks and laugh at my jokeseven if she has heard them a hundred times already. Ride Cable Cars in Indonesia and giant Ferris Wheels in Singapore! Her philosophy: If youre alive, why not be really alive? My Joy List Like Mom, I love life. I really do! Im not into Ferris Wheels though. But I wrote down my own Joy List. Here it is I want to laugh more often. I want to date my wife more often than my minimum of once a week. I just love being with her. I want to spend at least 2 hours each day to read books! To drink knowledge and inspiration from the best of the best. I want to feel my sweat more. I grew up not very athletic, but thats been changing these past years. I want to exercise more. I want to learn Tennis, Badminton, and Swimming. I want to take more 5-day writing breaks in a beach or mountaintop at least once a month. I want to play with my kids more often! Ive got the greatest boys in the world. I want to take long vacations with family and friends 3 times a year. I want to have more lunches with my mentors. I want to earn ten times what Im earning now. I want to share more practical wisdom to othersso people will know how to live with more love, happiness, and abundance. I want to share my wealth through my businesses and ministries. I want to pray more under the warmth of the sun each morning, surrounded by a lovely garden. Friend, its your turn. Ask yourself this simple question: What gives you joy? Write it down. Big joys. Small joys. Write them all down. Dont live passively. Dont live your days on autopilot, forever stuck on your routine. Fill your life with as much happiness as you can. Live your life deliberately. Heres my belief: People cannot give what they dont have. If you dont respect yourself, love yourself, and meet your needs for joy, how can you do the same for others? The holy saint is a happy saint. Make your own Joy List today. What makes you happy? May your dreams come true, Bo Sanchez PS. Mentors may be your missing link to your success. (It definitely was mine.) I needed multi-millionaire mentors to teach me how money works. Amnesty Report 2006: disadvantaged pay price of war on terror

Friday, May 26, 2006

The human rights watchdog NGO Amnesty International described 2005 as a year of contradictions with signs of hope for human rights being undermined through “deception and failed promises” of “arrogant” governments. Amnesty International issues annual reports on the development of human rights issues, with detailed reports on the situation in every individual country.

At the launch of its 2006 International Report, the Secretary General for Amnesty International (AI), Irene Khan, said that a number of governments have “paralyzed international institutions and squandered public resources in pursuit of narrow security interests, sacrificed principles in the name of the ‘war on terror’ and turned a blind eye to massive human rights violations. As a result, the world has paid a heavy price, in terms of erosion of fundamental principles and in the enormous damage done to the lives and livelihoods of ordinary people”.

According to the release report, Iraq sank into a “vortex of sectarian violence in 2005.” Secretary General Khan warned: “When the powerful are too arrogant to review and reassess their strategies, the heaviest price is paid by the poor and powerless – in this case, ordinary Iraqi women, men and children.” A 2004 Lancet study estimates that 100,000 excess deaths have occurred with roughly three times as many injured since the US-led invasion in 2003.

Continuing her criticism of international bodies, Ms Khan stated that “Intermittent attention and feeble action by the United Nations and the African Union fell pathetically short of what was needed in Darfur,” referring to the conflict that a number of reports estimate has killed over 300,000 people.

Australian cabinet discounted potential security risks with nuclear energy

Sunday, June 11, 2006

Wikinews Australia has in-depth coverage of this issue: Australian nuclear debate

Australia’s justice minister, Chris Ellison has said that the Australian federal cabinet did not consider security issues when it decided to setup an inquiry into nuclear power.

Speaking to the Nine Network, Senator Ellison said when considering energy, security concerns are not an issue. “When you look at sources of energy you don’t look at any potential terrorist threat,” he said.

The justice minister said that cabinet discussed measures for protecting crucial infrastructure but denies that a nuclear power station is any more of a target than the electricity grid or rail system.

Senator Ellison said that restricting the country’s use on nuclear power because of the threat of terrorism was giving in to terrorists. “Energy sources are very important for the future of any community and I think we’re not about to be stymied or restricted in that approach because of any threat of terrorism,”

“I mean, we’re going to continue living in the way we do. Once we change that, the terrorists win,” he said.

Leader of the Australian Greens Bob Brown says that the failure to consider security implications associated with nuclear power generation is “daft”.

Senator Brown accused the government of failing to consider the possibility of nuclear material becoming available to terrorists. “It’s daft to say the least and it’s really pig-ignorant of the dangers of nuclear material coming into the hands of terrorists,” he said.

Senator Brown said he is concerned that the move encourages Indonesia, a country that he claims to have a terrorist problem to build nuclear reactors. “The Government doesn’t understand that their paving the way for nuclear enrichment or reactors in Australia encourages Indonesia, which has plans for up to 12 nuclear reactors and which the Government knows has real problems with terrorism.”

The Greens leader said that there is a possibility a nuclear reactor could become a terrorist target. “It does make the threat of terrorists getting nuclear materials or targeting a reactor real, and it must be a consideration for any inquiry,” he said.

The opposition has also raised concerns about security risks associated with nuclear energy. Stephen Smith said, “We don’t think that the economics are there for nuclear power stations in Australia, let alone the national security risks that go with that and the waste disposal risks that go with that.”
